Grey Wolf

November – March (packs hunt in the open against the snow)

The wolf holds a place in Mongolian culture no other animal can claim — ancestor, rival, and emblem of the steppe's wildness. In winter, packs course across open country after gazelle, and the snow betrays every movement. Khomyn Tal's steppe and the forested Bulnai ranges offer two completely different wolf landscapes — one cinematic and open, one deep and taiga-dark, shared with lynx and wolverine.

Where to see them

Khomyn Tal National Park for open-country winter watching; the Bulnai Mountains for the taiga trio of wolf, Eurasian lynx and wolverine.

Every sighting funds protection — our conservation work with the MUR Initiative.
