GoPlaces4418982023-11-12Sensational Wildlife Group Tour of Mongolia This was the latest in a long list of amazing holidays I've booked with Wildlife Travel who are based here in the UK. I love the ethos of this travel company who put conservation first. Not only do they put all their profits into supporting our Wildlife Trusts here, but they seek to support local wildlife conservation wherever they go and use local guides wherever possible. Yumchin was a complete star in this respect and expertly guided us through our exciting 2-week itinerary in this vast, unique country. Everything was just so well organised, from the carefully-selected Ger Camps we stayed in, the transport including internal flights and the places we visited. I've absolutely no doubt that this took a huge amount of work behind the scenes but Yumchin was always so calm, organised and keen to share his knowledge with us. I felt truly immersed in Mogolian wildlife and culture. The highlight for me was our stay up at Snow Leopard Camp in the Altai Mountains where we hoped to be lucky enough to see these elusive big cats. With the help of local trackers, our trusted drivers and supported by a team of cooks from camp, we were blown away to find 3 Leopard cubs playing by their den as dusk was falling at the end of our very first day up on the slopes! Pure magic. There was something new and exciting to see every single day: watching Wolves stalking Gazelles and howling at night in Hustai National Park, the Pallas's Cat exiting its den for a stretch before setting off to hunt, the Steppe Eagles, herds of wild Pzreizawski horses, the vast landscapes and enormous dark night skies (I never seen the Milky Way so clearly!) the rawness of the weather, the variety of birds, studying the feather patterns of a Pintail Snipe being ringed by those dedicated bird-ringers at the Khovd Ringing Camp, the cute Picas running around camp, the smell of the Steppe plants, and the generous hospitality of the locals are all things that I will never forget. Here are our recommendation: For General Tourist - We booked everything quite late in the last minute and our trip was with a tight schedule. Instead of waiting ages for reply from other travel agencies, Yumchin always provided prompt replies to us, and he explained the possible choices we could have. He also detailed the progress of what he had been doing for us, so we had a good insight of what was going on. - Our domestic flight was cancelled due to bad weather in our trip. Being stuck in the capital airport, the airline had no solution provided. Yumchin followed up closely with the airline. While other tourist in the same flight with us were tackling everything themselves, we were able to relax and left behind our worries to our reliable guide, spending a relaxing day visiting museums in Ulaanbaatar. - Yumchin has good connections with the locals. He was able to tailor our trip to see more nomad culture as we told him that was our preferences. He also gave us a lot of information about Mongolian culture during the trip, enriching our knowledge. - Our driver Magii drove safely, which is essential in harsh weather condition in Mongolia. We were in a modern 4x4 vehicle (Toyota Land Cruiser), which was comfortable even in rough road conditions and long journeys. We were in good hands of them all through the trip. For photographers Yumchin had experience on touring professional photographers, he was patient with all our photo taking time. He also filmed and made wildlife documentaries himself, so he is sensitive in photographic scenes, and even knew where and when we wanted to stop before we requested. For wildlife lovers Last but not the least, apart from being a good tour guide, Yumchin was more a zoologist and wildlife biologist to us. He is also an environmentalist who concerns about wildlife and ecological protections. It might be easy to find good tour guides, but with someone who really cares about the nature and environment is absolutely valuable. In general, Soaring Expedition gives you a problems free, comfortable and memorable journey. It is definitely a great choice for your exotic adventures in Mongolia! Jenny and MarcoLucia L2023-09-17A wonderful trip in Mongolian Countryside We were 4 French friends, and we had only 5 days to visit the countryside of Mongolia. Our guide Yumchin booked us a complet tour to see the essential of Mongolia. We did many activities, such as horse riding and camel riding (Yumchin is a great rider), and we learnt a lot about the culture and history of the country in Karakhorum. We saw amazing landscapes in Hustai National Park, in elsen tasarkhai sand dunes, and in Tsenkher hot springs. We observed wildlife, especially birds : kite, vultures, buzzard, steppe eagle. We also saw also wild horse and wild cat. Yumchin is a vert friendly guide, with a good knowledge of wildlife in Mongolia. Thanks you for this amazing trip ! Soaring Expeditions provided excellent opportunities to meet Eagle Hunters and the local Kazakh families.
