Overview

At the edge of Siberia, the Dukha — Mongolia's Tsaatan reindeer herders — still follow their herds through the taiga. This journey earns the meeting properly: fly north to Murun, cross to Khuvsgul's Blue Pearl, drive to the village of Renchinlkhumbe, then ride horseback into the forest to live three days at the herders' camp.

  • Three days living at a Tsaatan reindeer camp
  • The horseback approach through the northern taiga
  • Khuvsgul Lake — the Blue Pearl — en route
  • Milk, herd and (under 70 kg!) ride the reindeer
  • The Uushigiin Uvur deer stones on the return
  • A genuine expedition into Mongolia's far north
