Overview
At the edge of Siberia, the Dukha — Mongolia's Tsaatan reindeer herders — still follow their herds through the taiga. This journey earns the meeting properly: fly north to Murun, cross to Khuvsgul's Blue Pearl, drive to the village of Renchinlkhumbe, then ride horseback into the forest to live three days at the herders' camp.

To the lake for a cruise on Central Asia's deepest water, with optional horseback riding and birding along the shore.

Day 5|Into the Taiga — Saddle Up
Horseback, full day
Meet the horse crew at first light and ride into the forest — bogs, larches and ridgelines on the trail to the reindeer people's summer camp.

Day 6|Reindeer People — Life Among the Herd
A full day in the camp: help milk and herd the reindeer, play with the children, learn the Dukha's taiga craft — and if you're under seventy kilos, ride a reindeer yourself.
